Meet the MVM EHF FINAL4 hosts!

Spectators at the first MVM EHF FINAL4 last year were guided through the weekend’s action by hosts Edit Szalay and Áron Kovács. The duo has been working together regularly since 2009 at various cultural and corporate events, but the 2014 MVM EHF FINAL4 in Budapest was their first sporting event. After a successful debut, the two energetic personalities are back for more.

“Áron contacted me before last year’s event, saying that he was looking for a partner for a mixed, Hungarian-English speaking and lively moderation job at an event in Papp László Sportarena. The job seemed to be really exciting at first sight, because never before had I done something similar in front of so many spectators. Our debut was fantastic, we really enjoyed the atmosphere of the arena and that was a result of the wonderful audience,” explains Edit.

She is working primarily as a coach for communication training. She loves both of her jobs, which coexist very well with each other. Her
performance in Budapest last year led to a step up to the international stage as well.

“The day after the final of the last year’s event, the representatives of EHF Marketing contacted me to ask if I wanted to join the hosts of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in Cologne.

“It was an honour for me, and the event itself was a really big experience. I can say that there are huge differences of the size of the two events, but we can be really proud of organisation, the level and atmosphere in Budapest.”

Áron Kovács

Áron was set for a career as a teacher and despite being popular with students and receiving an offer from a school after the obligatory teaching practice he decided to go down another route.

“Right after I finished university, the world of the media, radio and television inhaled me and it still detains me,” he says.

“Communication and dealing with people was always my strength, maybe this is why my pupils liked me so much. My tasks in the media are similar to hosting a live event, with or without a camera we need to grab the attention of the spectators and keep it.

“The FINAL4 last year was actually my first invitation to an international sports event. The atmosphere of the arena, the presence of the Hungarian team and the cheering of the local spectators for them, these things made this weekend unforgettable,” Áron recalls.
