Two teams are new, two return to MVM EHF FINAL4

The Women's EHF Champions League Quarter-finals have been played, the MVM EHF FINAL4 on 9/10 May is already looming on the horizon, but in between lies one important event: the draw.

WHC Vardar SCBT from FYR Macedonia, Montenegrin side Buducnost, Larvik from Norway and Russian club Dinamo-Sinara are the four teams that will be paired against each other on Tuesday, 14 April.

The draw takes place at the Moholy-Nagy-University Budapest (MOME) at approximately 11:30 hrs (local time). It will be preceded by a press conference that starts at 11:00 hrs. As part of the press conference the new trophy for winning team, designed by MOME graduates, will also be revealed.

Both events will be streamed live on ehfTV and will also receive extensive coverage on the EHF Champions League's Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Vardar and Buducnost have reached the ultimate stage of the Women's EHF Champions League for the second year in a row. In 2014 Vardar came third after losing the semi-final to Buducnost, but winning the bronze medal match against FC Midtjylland.

Buducnost eventually lost the final to Györi Audi ETO KC.

Larvik, winners of the EHF Champions League in 2011, and Dinamo-Sinara, winners of the Women's EHF Cup in 2008, are new to the event.

Teams to meet again

The draw is open, meaning that there are no restrictions to which teams can face each other in the semi-finals. This also means that teams can play each other again after they might have met before in an earlier stage of the competition.

In the group matches Buducnost beat and drew with Vardar (23:17 / 24:24). The Montenegrin side, winner of the EHF Champions League in 2012, also beat Dinamo-Sinara twice in the main round (25:18 / 26:18).

Also in the main round Dinamo-Sinara and Vardar, who eventually beat defending champions Györ in the quarter-final, shared the spoils (33:25 / 27:28). Larvik have not played against any of the three teams this season.

In the second consecutive year that the Women's EHF Champions League culminate in a final weekend, this is the first time that a draw is needed to determine the pairings.

In the 2013/14 season the main round was the last phase of the competition and hence the final main round standings determined the pairings for the 2014 MVM EHF FINAL.
