Larvik end main round with further win

Larvik got their sixth win out of six in the main round of the Women’s EHF Champions League, as they won the Scandinavian derby at home against IK Sävehof with eight goals.

GROUP 2

Larvik (NOR) vs IK Sävehof (SWE) 25:17 (12:8)

Larvik come away after this bout as the only team in the Women’s EHF Champions League this season not to have lost a single point yet.

Larvik were on top in the Scandinavian derby against IK Sävehof winning 25:17 in the Arena Larvik Saturday evening.

This match served as little importance to both sides as Larvik had been sure of progression to their quarter-final prior to the game and Sävehof had no chance of making to the next round due to last weekend’s result - the Swedish Champions finishing bottom of the group.

The lack of significance of this head-to-head could be seen on the on the court as both sides struggled to get going.

Even though the game was equal for great parts of the first half, the intensity was not high, and towards half-time Larvik lived up to their status as ‘favourites’ and changed an 8:8 stand-off into a 12:8 lead after the first 30 minutes.

It took Sävehof eight minutes to score their first goal in the second half, and Larvik benefited from the Swedish goal drought to increase their lead further to 17:8.

As the game progressed, the home team went up ten goals up on several occasions before finally winning by eight.

Top scorer for Larvik was Nora Mork with ten goals to her name and Louise Sand's five goals made her top scorer for her Swedish side.
