Join the EHF’s Mobile Journalism Project

Following a very successful year 2014, the EHF’s Young Reporters Programme enters 2015 with already to two major handball events to look forward to – and with a new name.

To sharpen the programme’s profile and to underline its focus, it has been decided to give it a new name: EHF Mobile Journalism Project.

Mobile journalism, in particular the coverage of events with and on your smartphone, has already been the focus of the Young Reporters Programme at the Women’s EHF EURO 2014, and the EHF intends to further increase its activities in this field.

And the next chance for young media professionals to gain first-hand experience at some of the world’s largest handball events is already coming up, as the EHF is now seeking applicants to join its team at the Women’s EHF FINAL4 (9/10 May 2015) and the VELUX EHF FINAL4 (30/31 May 2015)

The programme's main facts:

  • The EHF Mobile Journalism Team will consist four young media professionals at the Women’s EHF FINAL4 as well as the VELUX EHF FINAL4
  • Travel to the event and accommodation will be paid for by the EHF
  • A workshop focusing on mobile journalism with all selected candidates will be held on the Wednesday the same week the respective FINAL4 event starts.
  • The young reporters will work alongside the EHF Media Team at the respective event. They will interview players, cover press conferences and have the opportunity to research and come up with their own stories.

  • A large focus will be on mobile journalism and in particular on the photo app Instagram. Applicants who have proven experience in these fields will be given preference. The EHF is also looking for candidates with a background in radio reporting to produce audio reports from the championship.
  • The working and writing language will be English. Candidates are hence required to have at least a proficient level of written as well as spoken English. The ability to speak one or more of the participating teams’ languages will be considered an asset.
  • Candidates will be between 20 and 35 and will already have experience working in the media. Each candidate must submit a CV and a short motivational essay in English (approx. 500 words). Strong supporting references and evidence of published work will be an advantage.
  • The deadline for application is 12 April 2015 for the Women’s EHF FINAL4 and 1 May 2015 for the VELUX EHF FINAL4.

Applications have to be submitted by email to the EHF Media and Communications Department which together with EHF Marketing is responsible for choosing the candidates.

The application should indicate for which event they are applying. An application for both events at the same time is possible.

The EHF will provide the selected candidates with transport, accommodation and media accreditation for the duration of their work.

They will receive meals while working and will be supplied with event clothing. No further expenses can be covered by the EHF.
