Registration starts for Women’s EHF EURO 2016 in Sweden

The European Handball Federation has invited its 50 member federations to register for the Women’s EHF EURO 2016.

The next edition of the women’s national team flagship event takes place from 4 to 18 December 2016 in Sweden; the deadline for registration is 9 March 2015.

Sweden are the only team that is directly qualified, all other teams have to go through qualification. 15 will eventually qualify for the final tournament.

Depending on the number of registrations the draw for Qualification Phase 1 will take place on 24 March 2015 in Vienna; the draw for Qualification Phase 2 will take place on 9 April 2015 in Kristianstad, Sweden.

The two European teams that are already directly qualified for the World Championship 2015, Denmark and Norway, as well as all teams qualified for the World Championship 2015 Play-offs – Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Spain, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine – are directly qualified for Qualification Phase 2.

If there is a Qualification Phase 1, it will be played in a tournament format from 12 to 14 June 2015.

Qualification Phase 2 will be played in six rounds with Rounds 1 and 2 being played from 7 to 11 October 2015, Rounds 3 and 4 from 9 to 13 March 2016 and Rounds 5 and 6 from 1 to 5 June 2016.
