A new trophy will see the light of day

After 21 years of Women’s EHF Champions League history, the trophy to be lifted by the winning team after the final gets a facelift.

Following the introduction of the Women’s EHF FINAL4 last season and the decision to have it hosted in Budapest until 2016, the event organisers have now joined forces with renowned Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest to have a new trophy created.

"We are really excited about the cooperation and are looking forward for the first proposals to be handed to the jury," says EHF Secretary General Michael Wiederer.

The university has invited six teams, all comprised of former students, to participate in the design process.

"We are very honoured to cooperate with the European Handball Federation and thus be part of one of Europe’s biggest sporting events. Our teams share both professional efficiency and dauntless enthusiasm with the teams of Women’s EHF Champions League," said university rector József Fülöp.

"Some of them have only graduated a couple of years ago, but they all belong to the most skilful and gifted designers and craftsmen of their generation."

The jury will consist of members from EHF Marketing, the EHF, the Hungarian Handball Federation and the university itself.

A first meeting is planned to be held in March when the jury will be presented with the design proposals of each team.

Following the awarding the crafted version of the new trophy will be presented ahead of the 2015 Women’s EHF FINAL4.
