ROUND REVIEW: Four of the quarter-finalists in the Women's Challenge Cup found on the back of last weekend's double-headers
Half of Challenge Cup quarter-finalists already set
Pogon Baltica Szczecin, Union Mios Biganos-Begles, HAC Handball and DHC Poruba have already secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Challenge Cup after the weekend's action.
The closest race in the four double-headers was found in Portugal, where DHC Sokol Poruba from the Czech Republic defeated home side Colegio de Gaia 28:24 and 29:27.
The difference was considerably larger elsewhere Portugal, as Pogon Baltica Szczecin returned to Poland with a quarter-final place in the bag after defeating JAC – Alcanena 33:22 and 26:21.
Union Mios Biganos-Begles had no problems reaching the last eight, defeating Yellow Wintherthur 34:18 and 28:16, while the other French team in the competition, HAC Handball also enjoyed an easy weekend, defeating Gorodnichanka from Belarus 27:18 and 32:13.
Ukrainian side Galytchanka have one foot in the quarter-finals thanks to a comprehensive 26:11 away against Amyntas Amyntaiou from Greece, making the second leg on 14 February a formality. Three more ties will be decided with matches on 14 and 15 February in Serbia and Turkey
