NEWS REPORT: Jelena Grubisic tore her anterior cruciate ligament and will likely miss the rest of the season.
Yet another serious injury in Györ
Jelena Grubisic, who was signed to fill in for the pregnant Katrine Lunde, suffered a serious injury while saving a penalty in the Hungarian league. Grubisic will undergo surgery in the next days and is likely to miss the rest of the season.
Katrine Lunde, Anita Görbicz, Eduarda Amorim, Adrienn Orbán and Jelena Grubisic have two things in common: they are all world class players of Györi Audi ETO KC and they are all sidelined for various reasons. The latest to be hit with a season long injury is the Croatian goalkeeper, who saved a penalty against Siófok in the Hungarian league when she tore her anterior cruciate ligament.
A short statement on the club’s website proves Györ really are cursed this season, having already lost a handfull of great players now the Champions League holders are without two of the world’s best goalkeepers.
Györ will take on Larvik in the first round of the Main Round of the EHF Champions League on 1 February.
If it was not enough of the bad news newly signed Jana Knedliková also suffered an injury, however the Czech wing will not miss such a long period of action as the above mentioned. Knedlikova broke her nose in a training and will miss a couple of matches but the staff of the Hungarian champions remain hopefull that she will join the team by the time their European campaign resumes.
