Women's Challenge Cup starts in Portugal and Iceland

Fram from Iceland and GAS Megas Alexandros Giannitson will have the honour of being the two teams to throw the first ball in of the new Women's Challenge Cup season.

Friday afternoon at 17.00 hours local time, the first leg of their internal Round 3 double header starts in the Fram Sporthall in Reykjavik, where the return match will follow Saturday afternoon.

45 minutes after the start of the match in the Icelandic capital, another Greek team will start to seek their luck in the tournament.

AC Loux Patras are in Portugal to meet Colegio de Gaia, where both matches, Friday and Saturday, are to be played in the Pavilho Desportivo Municipal in Vila Nova de Gaia.

Four other ties are going to be decided as double headers this weekend, but all those are taking place Saturday and Sunday.

In the Sport Hall “Cair” in Nis, the very international British team Thames Handball from London, consisting of players of eight nationalities, are up against the entirely Serbian outfit from ZRK Naisa Nis. First match Saturday evening, and the second leg Sunday morning.

However, not all ties are being decided this weekend, of course.

Union Mios Biganos-Begles, who reached the semi-final of the tournament last season, will be starting their hunt for new success in the Netherlands, where the French team is facing Schuler Afbbouwgroep /DOS for the first leg Saturday evening.
