Motor take on injury-hit Kadetten

The Group D action resumes on Thursday afternoon in Kiev as Motor will desperately try to grab their first points of the campaign against the underdogs from Switzerland if they want to emulate last season's finish in the Last 16.

Motor are five for five in the domestic championship but had its share of bad luck in the first four rounds of the VELUX EHF Champions League. Victory, or at least a draw, was especially near against Szeged and Dunkerque but Motor was not able to perform well in the closing minutes.

Richard Stochl is expected to shine again between the sticks and goals are expected from Sergii Burka from the back-court and Olexandr Shevelev from the 6-meter line.

Kadetten have already surprised the pundits with a draw in Denmark and a home victory over Dunkerque. The Swiss are playing without any pressure and are expecting a similar attitude in Kiev.

But as reports from Schaffhausen suggest, they will have to play without the injured goalie Nikola Portner (pictured below) and wingers Manuel Liniger and Markus Richwien. That could prove to be the biggest obstacle in the hunt for another pair of points that would put Kadetten firmly in the qualification spot.
