Four refereee pairs have been added to the EHF's list of referees after they successfully passed the candidates course which was held in Vienna from 31 October to 2 November.

Denis Bolic and Christoph Hurich from Austria, Davor and Zoran Loncar from Croatia, Bogdan Kaludjerovic and Ivan Vujacic from Montenegro as well as Jakub Jerlecki and Maciej Labun from Poland were the four pairs participating.

Their programme consisted of theoretical sessions on topics such as cooperation between referees and delegates, the differences between men's and women's handball and the management of difficult situations and more hands-on sessions such as a rules test and fitness exercises.

Furthermore each pair had to referee matches at a men's under-20 national team tournament with the teams of Hungary, Austria, Poland and Serbia which took place in Vienna over the weekend.

The lecturers for the candidates course were Dragan Nachevski, chairman of the Technical Refereeing Committee, EHF Referee Lecturer Tono Huelin, EHF Coaching Lecturer Roman Filz as well as Marcos Bestilleiro and Vlado Rancik from the EHF Office.

This was the 16th Referee Candidates Course which was held by the EHF since the first one took place in 2007.
