Pregnancies and injury do not hinder Györ

Two pregnancies and an injured Susann Müller did not hold Györi Audi ETO back from winning their away Group C head-to-head against Viborg in the Women's EHF Champions League.

This being their third win in a row, Györi Audi ETO have taken a clear lead in the group, and the defending Women's EHF Champions League winners never really looked in trouble during this top encounter in Denmark.

To Viborg's disapointment they could not call on Sille Thomsen due to her on-going shoulder injury. The 22-year-old line player thus missing out on her Champions League debut. Likewise, Györ were missing right back Susann Müller due to a broken finger, while Anita Görbicz, who was confirmed pregnant during the week, was actually on the roster of the Champions League winners. The surprise of the day was that experienced playmaker made an appearance on court, however, only as a penalty taker.

Györ got off to the better start, the Hungarian side repeatedly finding Heidi Loke on the line time after time. As the first half progressed Viborg sorted out their defence problems and cut out the passes to the line, this bringing the hosts into the game for a short period.

However, Viborg could not keep up this trend and found it difficult to find holes the strong Györ defence, and towards half time the visitors managed to increase their lead to four goals. With the Danes being successful in keeping Loke more or less out of the game, the Hungarians turned to Eduarda Amorim for their goals.

The 28-year-old Brazilian international did not only thrill the away supporters among the 1,505 spectators in Viborg Stadionhal by hitting the net on several occasions, but also provided her teammates with excellent passes - especially the to the wings.

By middle of the second half, Györ went no less than nine goals ahead at 16:25, before Viborg pulled back a few scores to a more respectable final result of 25:30.

“We met a good team who put us physically under pressure. Furthermore, we missed some chances during important periods of the match, but in general I am content with my team's performance,” Viborg coach Christian Dalmose speaking to the Danish TV station DR1.
