Court of Appeal confirms ban for Petrov

The EHF Court of Appeal has confirmed the one-match ban for Oleksandr Petrov imposed by the EHF Court of Handball on 16 October 2014.

An appeal was filed by the club HC Sporta Hlohovec on 16 October 2014, arguing that the first instance decision was inadequate and the sanction excessive.

The EHF Court of Appeal has rejected the appeal and confirmed the first instance decision of the EHF Court of Handball, finding the one-match ban adequate and proportionate to the reckless conduct of the player during the last seconds of the 2014/215 Men’s EHF Cup Qualification Round 2 match (1st leg): Sporting Clube de Portugal vs. HC Sporta Hlohovec that took place on 11 October 2014 in Odivelas, Portugal (34:24).

A recourse to the ECA is possible within 21 days but shall not have any suspensive effect.
