Petrov to miss second leg against Sporting

The EHF Court of Handball has released a decision following disciplinary proceedings against the player Oleksandr Petrov of HC Sporta Hlohovec (SVK).

Following a collision from the side with an opponent leading a counter attack Petrov was directly disqualified five seconds before the end of the 2014/15 Men’s EHF Cup Qualification Round 2 (1st leg): Sporting Clube de Portugal vs. HC Sporta Hlohovec which took place on 11 October 2014.

The EHF Court of Handball finds that the behaviour Petrov deserves to be further sanctioned as, in substance, the foul was likely to endanger to opponent’s health. The player is thereby suspended for one match and is consequently not entitled to participate in the 2nd leg match taking place on 18 October 2014.

An appeal against the present decision shall not have any suspensive effect.
