Executive Committee follow-up to EHF Congress

With the 12th EHF Congress in Dublin at an end, the members of EHF Executive Commitee met to follow-up on the event and its decisions.

Women’s Handball Board confirmed

The Executive confirmed the nomination of the two remaining positions on the Women’s Handball Board from the list of nominated election candidates.

Narcisa Lecusanu from Romania and Marta Bon from Slovenia will therefore continue in the Women’s Handball Board for the next two years.

The complete composition of the WHB is as follows:

The next meeting of the Women’s Handball Board will be 14/15 October 2014 where a chairperson will be selected.

Initiator of Proceedings confirmed

Moshe Herman was confirmed as ‘Initiator of Proceedings’ for the next two year period. The former EHF Court of Handball Vice President has already held the position for the past two years.

Task force created

The Executive discussed the follow up to the Congress withdrawn motions from the Austrian and Norwegian Handball Federation’s relating to ‘age limits for elections’ and ‘promoting gender equality in handball’ as well as the EHF proposal relating to the ‘separation of functions’.

It was agreed to create a task force to be led by the EHF Vice President, Arne Elovsson, made up of representatives of the Austrian and Norwegian federations and one representative each of the Nations Board and Women’s Handball Board.

The task force would report back ahead of a possible extra-ordinary congress in November 2015.

Rule working group

Following a proposal from the Technical Delegation, a working group is to be created to look at the rules of the game made up of representatives of the Competitions Commission, Methods Commission and Beach Handball Commission as well as external coach and player representatives.

Next meeting in December

The EHF Executive Committee concluded by praising the organisation and running of the EHF Congress in Dublin.

The next meeting of the EHF Executive Committee will be during the final weekend of the Women’s EHF European Handball Championship on 20/21 December 2014.
