EHF Executive prepares for Congress

One day ahead of the start of the 12th EHF Congress in Dublin, the EHF Executive Committee met to prepare for the two-day event alongside its normal business.

The meeting dealt with key decisions including the awarding of the Women’s EHF FINAL4 to Budapest for the next two years (2015 and 2016).

An enlargement of the Champions Cup in beach handball, to be played 31 October to 2 November 2104 in Gran Canaria, from eight men’s and eight women’s to ten men’s and 10 women’s teams was confirmed. The huge level of interest in the event resulted in a need to increase the number of teams participating.

The EHF meeting calendar for 2015 was agreed and will be published together with the minutes of the meeting.

The regional leagues for men, the SEHA league, and women the WRHL were also confirmed. The meeting dealt with reports from the summer competitions as well as the technical commissions, which are to be followed up at a technical level.

Finally, the Memoranda of Understanding with the European Handball Players’ Union and Women’s Forum Club Handball were agreed and will be signed during the course of the Congress. The Women’s Forum Club Handball will be the first organisation to nominate a member of the Women’s Handball Board.

The Executive Committee will meet again on Saturday, 20 September to follow up the decisions of Congress.
