Norway and Denmark join forces to bid for Women's EHF EURO 2020

Together Norway and Denmark have won a combined eight Women's EHF EURO events, making them by far the two most successful nation in women's European handball.

Success, at least so it seems to be, is something that unifies as Denmark and Norway go into the EHF Congress in Dublin on 19/20 September applying for the second time after 2010 to commonly host the Women's EHF EURO - this time in 2020.

Unity and friendship also play a big part in the two nations' bidding presentation.

"Children are the future of handball and we will use EURO 2020 to inspire them to continue playing the sport for as long as they can," they say in their bidding documents.

"We would like to unify all children and invite children with different cultural background to join our youth activities before and during the Championship."

Herning and the 14,000-capacity Boxen Arena in Denmark as well as Stavanger and its Idrettshall, Trondheim with a newly constructed arena and the 13,000-capacity Telenor in Norway's capital Oslo are the four venue and host cities included in the bid.

As Denmark is only represented with Herning it leads to a suggested playing schedule that Group A and Group B in the preliminary round are being played on alternating days in Herning.

Trondheim in Norway - also on alternating days - hosts the preliminary round for Groups C and D. The main round will take place in Herning and Stavanger and the finals will take place in Oslo's Telenor Arena.
