Qualification groups for Women's 17 and Women's 19 EHF EURO 2015 get drawn in Dublin

While different motions and elections are the declared centrepiece of the EHF Congress in Dublin on 19 and 20 September, the attention this Friday will shift for a short time.

Around midday and again around 16:00 hrs an EHF EURO Qualification draw will take place: the first for the qualification to the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2015 in FYR Macedonia, the second for the qualification to the Women's 19 EHF EURO in Spain.

33 teams will enter the qualification for the Women's 17 EHF EURO. FYR Macedonia as organisers are the only team which is directly qualified.

The teams will be drawn to six groups with four teams each and three groups with three teams each. From the groups with four teams the two top-ranked nations will qualify, only the first ranked team qualifies from the groups with three teams each.

Sweden, Russia, Denmark, Portugal, Montenegro, Romania, Norway, Croatia and Hungary have been seeded in Pot 1. They were the teams ranked 1 to 9 at the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2013.

Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia find themselves in Pot 2. Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, Lithuania, Italy, Iceland, Greece, Belarus and Austria are in Pot 3.

Finland, Latvia and Switzerland are the three teams in Pot 4, while Faroe Islands, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova and Ukraine make up Pot 5.

The participation of Kosovo is subject to the congress decision of granting full membership to the Handball Association of Kosovo.

The qualification tournaments are played from 20 to 22 March 2015. The Women's 17 EHF EURO next year takes place from 13 to 23 August 2015.

29 teams vie for a place at the Women's 19 EHF EURO 2015

32 teams have registered for the Women's 19 EHF EURO 2015 and with organisers Spain as well Sweden and Russia, the gold and silver medallists at the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2013, already qualified, it means that 29 teams enter the qualification.

These 29 nations will be drawn to five groups of four teams each and three groups of three teams each.

Similar to the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2015 Qualification, the first two teams from each group with four nations qualify, while only the top-ranked team from each of three groups with three nations qualifies.

Denmark, Portugal, Montenegro, Romania and Norway have been seeded in Pot 1.

Croatia, Hungary and Germany are in Pot 2, while France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia have been seeded in Pot 3.

Pot 4 consists of Serbia, Austria, Belarus, Greece, Iceland, Lithuania, Slovenia and Turkey. Bulgaria, Finland, FYR Macedonia and Switzerland make up Pot 5.

In Pot 6 the teams from Faroe Islands, Israel, Kosovo and Ukraine can be found.

Again the participation of Kosovo is subject to the congress decision of granting full membership to Kosovo's handball association.

The qualification tournaments are played from 17 to 19 April 2015. The Women's 19 EHF EURO next year takes place from 23  July to 2 August 2015.
