Play for Change teams up with EHF as shirt sponsor in top level competitions

The EHF has announced that Play for Change, a charitable foundation set up to enhance the lives of children and young people around the world by providing access to sports and education, will be present on the shirts of top referees in the upcoming season.

The charity will see its logo presented in three positions on the shirts of all of the EHF’s 142 top referee pairs in over 1,500 national and club team matches throughout the season. The EHF will also support the work of the charity by helping to raise the profile of its work through its communications channels and other joint initiatives at its competitions and high-profile events.

The EHF and Play for Change have been working together since early 2014, with the EHF donating merchandise and match tickets to be auctioned on the Play for Change charitable auction site – www.iplayforchange.com.

Six-season agreement with MP & Silva

The cooperation with Play for Change forms part of a new six-season agreement with MP & Silva, which will see the leading international media rights company further extend its involvement in international handball. In 2013, the company signed a long-term agreement with EHF Marketing GmbH to market the media rights for Europe’s top club handball competitions.

The new agreement includes the placement of advertising on referee shirts across the EHF’s national team and club competitions until the end of the 2019/20 season, with the exception of selected competitions including the final tournaments in the EHF EURO and Younger Age Category events.

Successful cooperation continues

Commenting on the deal, Jean Brihault, EHF President and Chairman of the EHF Marketing Advisory Board, said: “The fact that MP & Silva has decided to extend its cooperation with European handball underlines the excellent working relationship we have developed over the last few years. MP & Silva and the Play for Change Foundation will enjoy extensive media exposure through the EHF’s top level competitions as a result of this long-term agreement.”

Andrea Radrizzani, Group CEO, MP & Silva and founder of the Play for Change Foundation, said: “This is a significant milestone for Play for Change as we witness our first ever sponsorship deal. It is with many thanks to handball and in particular the EHF for believing in our mission, as well as to MP & Silva as they played a key role in securing the deal.”
