Handball leagues meet in Vienna

The presidents and managing directors of nine European leagues were at the EHF headquarters on 27 August 2014 to meet with representatives of the EHF including Jean Brihault, EHF President; Michael Wiederer, EHF Secretary General and Peter Vargo, Managing Director of EHF Marketing.

Focus of the meeting's discussions was the re-organisation of the body representing the European leagues, the European Professional Handball Leagues Association (EPHLA), following the expiration of the Memorandum of Understanding between EPHLA and the EHF at the end of June 2014.

Jean Brihault, EHF President, commented, "With a seat on the EHF Professional Handball Board, the professional handball leagues are important stakeholders for the EHF, and I'm pleased with the positive exchange of information between the EHF and league representatives from across Europe."

An extraordinary general assembly of the leagues’ association is planned for 26 September 2014, where the future structure and leadership of the association will be defined.

Present at the meeting were representatives of leagues in Austria, Denmark, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
