Budapest's 'Old Boys' dominate European Masters

The European Masters Handball Championship came to an end on Sunday, 15 June with Hungarian teams winning all but one age category.

The most successful squad in the field were the 'Old Boys' from Budapest who won the Men's 45+ category and the Men's 50+ category. However, Angyalok Budapest in the Women's 43+ category and Smile Handball Team in the Women's 33+ category made sure that Hungarian teams shared even more success as they topped the podium in their respective events.

The only team breaking into the Hungarian phalanx was the Czech Praha Team who won the Men's 35+ category.

Overall 58 teams from 15 nations took part in the three-day event. All results can be found on the official website.

At the end of the tournament the best players and the best goalkeepers were awarded in each category.

In the Men's 35+ goalkeeper Radek Musil (Praha Team) and Sergey Tvrdesnko (HC Medve) received the honours. In the Men's 45+ Tamas Zsembery (Budapest Old Boys) became best goalkeeper and Valeriy Gopin (Russia) became best player. Budapest Old Boys' Andras Rev was awarded best goalkeeper in the Men's 50+, Oleg Dyakov (Odessa) became best player in this category.

In the women's events Marketa Exnerova from Slavia Prague was awarded best goalkeeper in the Women's 33+, best player in this category became Pádár from Smile Handball Team.

In the Women's 43+ Andrea Farkas form Angyalok Budapest was the best goalkeeper and Ludmila Koprivova from Astra Prague the best player.
