Zagreb and the Beach Girls win ebt Finals in Thessaloniki

The winners of the ebt Finals, the final tournament of the European Beach Handball Tour, have been crowned.

After three days of some exciting beach handball action in the Greek city of Thessaloniki the OVB - Beach Girls from Hungary in the women's tournament and Detono Zagreb in the men's tournament lifted the coveted championship plate on Sunday night.

Detono Zagreb had arrived in the final following a second place in the group phase and a 2:0 (17:16, 18:14) victory against defending champions Club Balonmano Playa Alcala in the semi-final.

In the final against BHC SKKM-Ekaterinodar from Russia they lost the first set 14:19, won the second 19:14 and eventually took the overall victory after a 5:2 win in the shoot-out.

Women's final decided after shoot-out

The OVB - Beach Girls from Hungary had also finished their group phase campaign in second place in the women's tournament.

In the semi-final they then won 2:1 (18:21, 20:19, 8:7) in a thrilling match against the previously unbeaten Team NOR from Norway.

And they showed nerves of steel once more against Club Balonmano Getasur in the final, again deciding the match in their favour only after shoot-out.

Stine Liden from Team NOR was awarded best goalkeeper. Nathalia Souza from Greek side Avant Garde was named the women's tournament Most Valuable Player.

In the men's tournament Gil Vicente Pires from Greek team Acropolis became MVP, Kai Bierbaum from German side BC Sand Devils Minden was named best goalkeeper.
