Ukraine matches to be played in neutral venue
The EHF has announced that Ukraine will play its two remaining Group 1 qualification matches for EHF EURO 2014 on neutral ground.
The Chemkostav Arena in Michalovce, Slovakia will be the venue for the two matches against the national teams of Denmark and Austria.
The match Ukraine versus Denmark, originally scheduled for 26 March 2014, and then rescheduled to Wednesday, 4 June at 17:30 hrs in Kiev will now take place on 4 June in Michalovce.
Ukraine’s final match against Austria, originally planned to be played in Kiev, has now been scheduled for 15 June also in Michalovce.
Throw-off times for the two matches will be announced following agreements with TV partners.
Playing for two places
The remaining match schedule includes the match between Austria and Denmark on 7 June 2014 in Vienna, Austria at 17:15 hrs, Lithuania vs. Ukraine on 11 June in Kaunas, Lithuania at 18:30 hrs and Denmark against Lithuania on 15 June in Roskilde in Denmark at 16:00 hrs.
Denmark currently tops Group 1 with six points from three matches ahead of Austria with six points from four matches. Ukraine has two points from three matches.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the final tournament.
Final destination Hungary and Croatia
EHF EURO 2014 will be played in six venues in Hungary and Croatia from 7 to 21 December 2014.
The group phase will be played in the Hungarian cities of Györ (Group A) and Debrecen (Group B) as well as in the Croatian cities of Varazdin (Group C) and Osijek (Group D).
Hungary will play in Györ and Croatia in Varazdin. The tournament will then stay in Debrecen and move to Croatia's capital, Zagreb, for the main round.
The placement matches and the final will be played in the Papp Laszlo Sportarena in Budapest.
The draw the EHF EURO 2014 final tournament will take place on Thursday, 19 June from 13:00 hrs in Zagreb. The event will be streamed live at ehf-euro.com.
