Enormous demand for tickets

20,000 tickets for the VELUX EHF FINAL4 are just simply not enough to satisfy the need of all handball fans eager to become part of the huge two-day sport and entertainment event in the LANXESS arena.

Demand for a place in one of the biggest sport arenas in Europe has been always large, but one day after quarter-final stage has been concluded and all four participants have been confirmed, the European Handball Federation is facing an enormous number of requests from European supporters.

Each team who made it to the season’s highlight event has been granted 500 tickets each, but some clubs would easily sell a multiple amount of those tickets, if available. Especially fans of two VELUX EHF FINAL4 debutants – MKB-MVM Veszprem and SG Flensburg-Handewitt were keen to get tickets.

“This is nice trouble to have, but on the other hand we would love to accommodate as many requests as possible,” EHF Secretary General Michael Wiederer said.

Ticket fever for 2014 edition right from the start

The first tickets went on sale on the opening day of the last year’s VELUX EHF FINAL4 weekend, but only fans in the arena could secure the tickets for the next edition. 3,000 places were sold in the LANXESS arena during these two days.

Just two days after HSV Hamburg lifted the VELUX EHF Champions League trophy in the sold-out LANXESS arena, EHF Marketing GmbH, the event organiser confirmed that over 5,000 tickets had already been sold for the 2014 weekend.

Ticket fever went on over the summer and autumn and in November there were basically no tickets left apart from the contingents allocated to participating clubs. The remaining 50 tickets were held until the “50 days to go” milestone, only to be sold within four minutes.

Lesson to take

All fans who came up short in their bid to claim a ticket should not despair as there will be an extensive and free TV coverage of all four VELUX EHF FINAL4 games on ehfTV.com.

And there is a useful lesson to take for all those who intend to visit the 2015 edition of the event – be quick and secure your place as soon as ticket sales begin.

More information about the ticket sales will be revealed (live on ehfTV) on Tuesday 29 April (11:30 hrs local time) at the official press conference prior the draw of the 2014 VELUX EHF FINAL4.
