BLOG: One can assume the newcomers in the Women's EHF Champions League are just a group of recruited big stars with no team spirit. However, as Tatyana Khmyrova, the Russian right back of WHC Vardar SCBT insists in her blog, they are more than a team – they are like a family. On, and off court too.
Like one big family
Dear handball fans,
I really like this idea of EHF which gives some space for players to write their own blogs and in this way to get closer to the handball audience around the world.
First of all I would like to tell you that I’m very happy because my team qualified for the Women’s EHF FINAL4 and this brings me a lot of joy. It is for the first time in my career that I’m so close to the trophy in this competition.
However at this moment I try not to think about the upcoming matches in Budapest and I used the break in the Champions League to take a good rest.
Cheering for Russia
During this break I enjoyed the qualification matches for the European Championship in Croatia and Hungary. I cheered for Russia in the two matches against Macedonia and perhaps it helped as the girls won both matches :-) Of course, this brings only positive feelings.
I also must say that I’m very sorry that I wasn’t able to go home. I really love and miss a lot my parents.
They still haven’t visited me here but I hope they will be able to come to Macedonia as soon as possible.
Life in a sunny city
I’m pretty sure that they will like Skopje. This is a very pleasant and sunny city, not only because of the weather but also because of the life here.
There are plenty open coffee bars and it is very nice to see so many positive people on the streets. I see day by day how this city develops and I really like it.
The other thing I love about this city is the attitude towards handball. People here really love this sport and it is amazing what kind of support we get from them.
I’m trying to use my free time as much as possible and often I hangout with the other girls in the team.
We can be often seen having fun together, drinking coffee and discovering new and interesting places in Skopje. I also like listening to different types of music and especially when I’m driving in my car I enjoy to listen to loud music :-).
Another thing that I must mention is that I also learn Macedonian language and this is pretty challenging for me.
Back to the business
Now let’s get back to the FINAL4 topic again. Once all the players come back in Skopje, we are starting with full preparation for Budapest.
I really like my team and the fact that we are always very determined to work and a positive spirit is present among us. We absolute don’t have any problems that we are all coming from different countries.
What is most important for one team is that we have great communication and understanding on and out off the handball court. I like to spend time with my teammates off the court too and this makes us feel closer and like one big family.
We are a young team but we have a big potential and I’m sure that year by year we are only going to improve and get stronger.
Once more I have to say that I’m very happy that I will play in the FINAL4 especially because it is for the first time in women's handball. I’m not sure how it will look like, but I’m looking forward to a great deal of positive emotions.
Only four teams are in this battle for the winning trophy, which means that all matches will be very difficult. Yet I’m sure that we will give our best.
That would be it for my first blog guys, thanks for reading and I hope you liked it.
