Eight teams out for glory in Women's Challenge Trophy
Two years after Bulgaria won the last edition to date of the IHF/EHF Women's Challenge Trophy in 2012, there is now a new chance for eight teams to showcase their skills on the international handball scence.
From 26 to 30 March the teams from Greece, Moldova, Latvia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, Israel and Armenia take to the court in Larissa, Greece.
The tournament is designed to further develop handball, especially in emerging nations and to improve the presence of the sport in general, while at the same time ensuring the highest competition challenge for the participating nations and good infrastructure for all parties involved.
The event in Larissa is the eighth edition of the Women's Challenge Trophy.
The participating teams have been drawn to two groups of four, with Greece, Moldova, Latvia and Belgium in Group A, and Bulgaria, Estonia, Israel and Armenia in Group B.
Following a round-robin format the top two ranked teams of each group go to the semi-finals, while the teams ranked third and fourth respectively play for places 5 to 8.
The Hellenic Handball Federation as organiser will stream all matches live via the Challenge Trophy's Youtube Channel.
