MATCH REVIEW: Montenegrin champions leapfrogged Györ in Group 2 after a four-goal win at Ljubljana.
Buducnost lead Group 2 at least until Sunday
Buducnost are leading Group 2 of the main round of the Women's EHF Champions League at least until Sunday night.
That is the situation after Buducnst won 30:26 away against RK Krim Mercator Saturday night. However, Györy Audi ETO, who are already qualified for the Women's EHF FINAL4 just like Buducnost, can still finish top of the group with at least a draw at home against Larvik Sunday.
RK Krim Mercator (SLO) vs Buducnost (MNE) 26:30 (15:17)
Not much was at stake for any of the teams in the Arena Stozice in Ljubljana Saturday night.
Buducnost had qualified for the Women's EHF FINAL4 already, while Krim no longer had the chance to achieve the same success.
Buducnost still had the first place in the group to play for, though, and this apparently motivated the visitors who had the upper hand for most of the match.
However, the Montenegrin champions never managed to get more than four goals ahead, and with five minutes and 54 seconds left, Nina Wörz equalised to 24:24 for the home team.
Buducnost coach Dragan Adzic took a timeout, but a minute later Wörz equalised again for Krim, to 25:25.
This was as far as the hosts got, though, and at the end, Buducnost could increase to four goals again.
The winners of the Women´s EHF Champions League now hold the first place in Group 2, at least until Sunday at 19.05, when Györ Audi ETO receive Larvik. In that match, Györ will need at least a draw to finish as number one.
