Zvezda fined €500

The EHF Court of Handball has released a decision following legal proceedings opened against the Russian club Zvezda Zvenigorod.

The club shall pay a €500 fine for having failed to inform the EHF, respectively EHF Marketing, whether a host broadcast of the 2013/14 Women’s Cup Winners’ Cup Last 16 (1st leg) match: Zvezda Zvenigorod vs. Metz Handball would take place or not.

According to article 3.2.1.4 of the 2013/2014 European Cup Regulations, the right holder (Home clubs, except for the final) has the obligation to inform the EHF, respectively EHFM, if a host broadcast is to take place. The EHF Court of Handball underlines that such an obligation also apply to internet-streaming.

The club was therefore sanctioned according to article A.1 a) of the EHF Legal Regulations.

An appeal may be filed with the EHF Court of Appeal within seven days.
