15 goals from Tamminen help Cocks to reach quarter-final

No less than 15 times did 26-year-old left winger Teemu Tamminen hit the net, as Finnish Cocks confirmed their quarter-final berth in the Men's Challenge Cup through a 37:19 win at home against HC Spartak from Bulgaria.

Already in the first match in Varna last weekend had Cocks actually made things clear with a 31:20 win, and adding Saturday's 18 goal home win to this, Cocks are through with 68:39 on aggregate.

Another Nordic side, IK Sävehof will also be in the bowl for the quarter-final draw Tuesday, after the Swedes defeated HC Victory Regia Minsk from Belarus clearly in two home games in Partillebohallen by Gothenburg this weekend.

Saturday, Sävehof won 35:21 and reduced the second leg Sunday to a formality which the Swedish hosts won 41:26.

“The lads did well”, was the brief comment from Sävehof coach Magnus Johansson in the club's website, as the aggregate win of 76:47 was a fact.

The other double header this weekend became considerably tighter, as United HC Tongeren won the first of the two home games in Belgium against SPE Strovolos from Cyprus 29:25 – only to lose the Sunday meeting 27:24, making the Belgian aggregate win as narrow as 53:52.

Romanian HC Odorhei had a narrow 23:22 win with them from their game in Poland against Górnik Zabrze last weekend, but that turned out to be more than enough in the return match at home which Odorhei won 32:28.

A 26:22 lead from the home game proved to be enough for RK Metaloplastika Sabac, as the Serbians got away with a 23:22 defeat away to Croatian HRK “Karlovac”.

Having won 27:17 away against A. C. Doukas, ZTR Zaporozhye had made the return match against the Greek team a formality which the Ukainian side won 34:21, while Portuguese Aguas Santas-Milaneza added a 36:27 away win to their 41:22 home win against KH BESA Famiglia from Kosovo, and KS “Azoty-Pulawy” from Poland also cruised into the quarter-final with 39:31 win at home against Nilüfer BK on top of their  36:29 win in Turkey last weekend.
