Barcelona's hunt for new goalkeeper ends successful

The search for a new goalkeeper did not take long for FC Barcelona.

Only days after it was confirmed that Arpad Sterbik's injury he sustained over the weekend would sideline him for three months, the EHF Champions League record winners found a fitting replacement in Mickael Robin who joins from Montpellier HB until the end of the season.

It was on Wednesday afternoon that the club confirmed the transfer via Twitter and on its website.

The 28-year-old Robin played for SC Sélestat from 2001 to 2008, before joining Chambéry SH in 2008 for two seasons after which he eventually transferred to Montpellier.

With Montpellier he won the French domestic league in 2011 and 2012 and the French Cup in 2012 and 2013.

Robin has already flown to Barcelona where he will be presented to the media on Wednesday night after the club's match against BM Guadalajara.However, he already had a chance to meet head coach Xavi Pascual.

Barcelona have already qualified for the Last 16 of VELUX EHF Champions League. They will HC Metalurg in their last group match on 23 February at 18:00 hrs.

The draw for the Last 16 takes place on 25 February at the EHF in Vienna.
