NEWS REPORT: Larvik and Györ in common ceremony for their former coach ahead of their meeting in the Women's EHF Champions League.
 

Memorial ceremony for Karl Erik Bøhn in Larvik

A comprehensive memorial ceremony for former top coach Karl Erik Bøhn, who died at the age of 48 last weekend, will be held in the Arena Larvik ahead of the Women´s Champions League main round match between Larvik and Györi AUDI ETO KC Friday night.

Karl Erik Bøhn, who died of cancer the night between Saturday and Sunday last weekend, was head coach in both clubs during his career. Therefore, Larvik and Györ are arranging the ceremony in community.

“It is a coincidence that we meet Györ at this point, but there could not be any better opportunity for a ceremony like this,” Larvik director Bjørn-Gunnar Bruun-Hansen told the Norwegian newspaper VG.

The ceremony Friday will start with a two minute video, showing the highlights of Bøhn's coaching career. There will be commemorative words after the presentation of the players and one minute of silence before throw-off.

The Györ fans have also asked for time to pay their respect to Karl Erik Bøhn and to give presents to his family who will be present in the Arena.

The Larvik players will be playing with black arm bands, whle Györ will be wearing completely black playing kits.

Karl Erik Bøhn was in Larvik from 2002 to 2010. First as assistant coach, and from 2005 as head coach.

He was head coach in Györ for four months from November 2011 before becoming Hungarian national coach at full-time.

Before becoming a coach, Karl Erik Bøhn played 126 internationals for Norway.
