Slovenia and Greece take last two spots

The list of five teams who made it to the European qualification play offs of the World Championship 2015 from the first phase has been completed as Slovenia and Greece secured the last two tickets and joined Lithuania, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Germany has been directly seeded for the play offs and further 12 teams will be added to the list of the play offs participants after the current EHF EURO 2014 as only first three teams and the reigning world champions Spain will avoid the elimination matches.

The draw for 2015 World Championship Play-off Europe will take place on Sunday, 26 January 2014 at 13:00 hrs in the Press Conference room in Jyske Bank Boxen Arena.

After having failed in the EHF EURO 2014 play offs against Belarus, this time Slovenia did not hesitate in the crucial match against ex-Soviet country as they beat Ukraine in a convincing fashion 35:23 in Velenje.

Slovenia won the Group 3 one point above Ukraine, Switzerland finished third leaving Luxembourg without a point after their away 28:23 win.

Israel had a chance to take the first position in Group 4 if they had beaten the Netherlands, but the Dutch players allowed no surprise at their expense. They recorded an impressive 34:24 win pushing Greece to the play offs. No team in this group lost on home court.

Lithuania successfully completed their campaign in Group 1 and after they had secured their play off ticket already on Saturday thanks to Georgia's defeat in Finland, they made a lap of honour against Turkey winning 32:26.

In Group 2 Italy dominated in the match for prestige against Cyprus clinching the third place below Romania and Slovakia with a 34:28 win.

Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered their first defeat in Group 5 but a narrow 26:27 loss in Portugal could not endanger their trip to the play offs as they had secured the group win already on Wednesday as the first team of the qualification.
