Two more years in KIF for Hvidt and Jørgensen

KIF Kolding København have announced that 37-year-old goalkeeper Kasper Hvidt and 35-year-old backcourt player and defence specialist Lars Jørgensen have both extended their contracts with the Danish participants in the VELUX EHF Champions League for two more years, so that the contracts are now valid until 30 June 2016.

Together with KIF Kolding director Jens Boesen, Hvidt and Jørgensen were among the driving forces behind the founding of the new team KIF Kolding København after AG København's bankruptcy in the summer of 2012.

This season, the two former Danish internationals have played a great part in KIF Kolding København's success in the European top flight, and as late as Sunday, Hvidt played a deciding part in the Danish 26:25 away against KS Vive Targe Kielce in Group B, while Jørgensen had to stay on the bench with three bended ribs.

“We have both been part of creating this unique project, and it is a pleasure to also be part of developing it and taking it to new heights. We both enjoy being part of an extremely strong and homogeneous outfit, and with two home grounds with so much atmosphere as in Kolding and Brøndby, we get extra motivation every time we play at home,” Kasper Hvidt said on behalf of both veterans in an official statement Tuesday.

KIF Kolding København are currently in the second position in Group B of the VELUX EHF Champions League, with ten points after six matches just like group leaders THW Kiel.

The next assignment for the Danes in the competition will be the away game against FC Porto Vitalis on Saturday.
