Ghionea misses six weeks with a broken hand

Bad luck for the Polish runners-up in the VELUX EHF Champions League. After Orlen Wisla Plock had lost Mariusz Jurkiewicz last week, just hours before their Round 6 match against FC Porto they were hit by another injury of a key player, when their top scorer Valentin Ghionea broke his right hand at the Wednesday’s training.

The right wing of Plock suffered an injury of a metacarpal bone in his right hand and he is not expected to return to the VELUX EHF Champions League action before February.

"It wil take at least six weeks to recover. I hope I will get to the very good shape quickly in the new year to help my team in the Champions League. I can just wish them good luck for the match with Porto."

The game with FC Porto Vitalis is considered to be very crucial for Vistula River’s team. However, coach of Wisla – Manolo Cadenas, still has alternatives for Ghionea position as he can use the newly signed Croatian veteran Vedran Zrnic or the youngster Mateusz Goralski.
