NEWS REPORT: All three clubs shall pay fines for incidents at the VELUX EHF Champions League Qualification Tournament as EHF Court of Handball released its decision.

AEK, Dinamo and Tatran fined

The EHF Court of Handball has released a decision in the case concerning the incidents which took place after the match: AEK Athens (GRE) vs. Besiktas JK (TUR), played on 1 September 2013, within the frame of the VELUX EHF Champions League Qualification Tournament organised in Presov (SVK).

Once the match ended, supporters of AEK Athens invaded the playing court, and, while leaving the parking of the playing hall, they also fought with supporters of HC Dinamo Minsk (BLR).

Tatran Presov, as the organiser of the match, shall pay a fine of €2,500 (€1,000 being imposed on a suspended basis with a probation period of two years) for failure to maintain the good order, safety and security after the match pursuant to their obligation stated in articles 1 § 6 of the EHF Rules on Safety and Security Procedure article 6, Chapter IV of the VELUX EHF Champions League 2013/2014 Regulations. Supporters of AEK Athens should have been prevented to invade the court.

According to articles 6, Chapter IV of the Regulations and 2.2 of the EHF Legal Regulations. clubs are responsible for the conduct of their supporters. Consequently, AEK Athens and HC Dinamo Minsk are sanctioned as follows:

- AEK Athens shall pay two fines of respectively €3,000 and €4,000 for the misconduct of their fans as they invaded the playing court before being involved in a fight after the match. In addition, AEK Athens shall reimburse the costs and expenses paid by HC Dinamo Minsk to repair the front windshield of their bus broken by AEK Athens’ fans and amounting to €3,000.

- HC Dinamo Minsk shall pay a fine of €3,500 for the misconduct of their fans as they were involved in a fight after the match.

The fines applied according to articles B.4 of the EHF List of Penalties as well as 5, 7 and 8 of the Catalogue of Penalties of the EHF Rules on Safety and Security procedure. The damage compensation applied according to article 12.4 of the EHF Legal Regulations.

An appeal to the EHF Court of Appeal may be lodged by the clubs within seven days.
