100 reasons to visit the Men’s EHF EURO 2014 in Denmark - Part 6

We are rapidly approaching the throw-off for the 2014 Men's EHF European Championship in Denmark.

From 12 to 26 January next year 16 European teams will show the very best handball has on offer in their quest for the sport's European throne.

With the event reaching the 100-days-to-go-mark in the first week of October and to whet the fans' appetite, eurohandball.com has started publishing 100 reasons why you should not miss out on this highlight of the 2014 handball calendar.

The reasons will be published in groups of 10 over the coming days and every day one reason will also be published on the event's official Facebook page.

While some are truly sports-based, some have to be read tongue-in-cheek, but overall they will give a picture why the 2014 European Championship is worth a visit.

For anyone who can't wait to be part of the Men's EHF EURO 2014, tickets are just a click away.

Here come reasons 51 to 60 why you should not miss out on the Men's EHF EURO 2014:

Reason 51:To visit the second arena in EHF EURO history which will, by the end of 26 January, have hosted a Men's and a Women's EHF EURO Final. Belgrade's Kombank Arena hosted the final weekend of the Men's and the Women's EHF EURO. Herning's Jyske Boxen welcomed the finalists of the Women's EHF EURO 2010 and will do so again at the Men's EHF EURO 2014.

Reason 52: To find out whether the Croatian 'bronze series', which has been ongoing since January 2012 continues. At the three previous major tournaments, the EHF EURO 2012, the Olympic Games 2012 and the World Championship 2013, the team of head coach Slavko Goluza finished third.

Reason 53: To watch a Swede coaching Norway in Denmark – Ystad-born Robert Hedin will be on the bench when his Norwegian players take to the court in Aalborg for their Group B matches.

Reason 54: To get a glimpse of a Royal handball enthusiast, Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark, who is likely to attend some matches.

Reason 55: To count the goals of the qualification's top scorer, Icelandic Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson (pictured below), who netted in 62 times only six matches.

Reason 56: To visit Gentofte, Metallica's drummer Lars Ulrich's place of birth, in the Copenhagen region.

Reason 57: To find out why his fans from Viborg, the club he played for from 2005 to 2007, call Danish wing player Hans Lindberg “majestaet”.

Reason 58: To explore Copenhagen, the global no.5 of places to visit, according to a New York Times survey in 2010.

Reason 59: To admire the impressive handball skills of seven players that were votes into the Men’s EHF EURO 2012 All-star Team and who are very likely to take to the court once again: Darko Stanic (SRB; goalkeeper), Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson (ISL, left wing), Mikkel Hansen (DEN; left back), Rene Toft Hansen (DEN; line player), Marko Kopljar (CRO; right back), Viran Morros (ESP; defence), and Momir Ilic (SRB; MVP).

Reason 60: To realise that frokost (which comes from the Middle Low German word 'vrokost' and means 'early meal') in Denmark is not served in the morning. Breakfast is called 'morgenmad', frokost instead means lunch.
