Teams countdown to EHF EURO 2014
Officials from the 16 teams set to playing in the 2014 EHF European Championship in Denmark from 12-26 January 2014 have been meeting in Aarhus in preparation for the first major event of the new year.
The Heads of Delegation Conference started out on Thursday, 3 October 2013 with an inspection tour to the venue of the final weekend in Herning, where participants saw for themselves the arena, dressing rooms and media set-up.
The programme continued Friday with information from both the organiser, the Danish Handball Federation, and the EHF on organisational matters.
Saturday sees the teams split up and visit the host cities of the four preliminary rounds: Herning, Aalborg, Aarhus and Copenhagen.
Commenting on the conference, Czech delegate, Karel Nocar, said: “It is a good to get together and exchange experiences. Also at this conference we get a lot of useful information about the EURO.
“In handball we are all one big family and we are building these events together – this is also why I am very excited to be here and I am looking forward to the EURO in January.”
Chairman of the EHF Competitions Commission, Leopold Kalin, also expressed his satisfaction with the Conference.
“There is a very nice atmosphere here at the conference, which is well organised by the Danish OC. I think much important information is handed out and discussed, and this gives us the best possible common understanding in the preparations for the EURO.
I expect the EURO 2014 to be special with many side events and activities building up the brand and many volunteers carrying out the event and expressing the heart of handball,” he said.
