Handball Federation of Portugal fined

The EHF Court of Handball has released its decision on the case of the Handball Federation of Portugal and the decision to withdraw from the organisation of the Women’s 19 EHF EURO in 2015.

The court concluded that the federation should pay a fine of €15,000 (fifteen thousand euro) on the basis that their early withdrawal constituted a breach of the EHF statutes and regulations.

Furthermore, the Portuguese Handball Federation is suspended from the organisation of any EHF national team events for the next three years (until December 2016).

The decision may be appealed to the EHF Court of Appeal within seven days of this decision.
