Disciplinary proceedings for Alican Göcmen following EHF EURO qualification match

Suspension for Turkish player

The EHF Court of Handball has reached a decision following disciplinary proceedings against the Turkish player, Alican Göcmen.

The player hit an opponent in the face with his elbow in the 33rd minute in the match of the 2014 Men’s European Championship Qualification 2, Turkey versus Norway, which took place in Turkey on 12 June 2013.

He will be sanctioned with a four matches suspension based on article B. 2 of the EHF List of Penalties, two of the matches being imposed on a suspended period of two years.

The EHF Court of Handball considered as an aggravating circumstance the previous suspension of the player due to his unsportsmanlike conduct during the 2014 Men’s European Championship Qualification 2, Turkey versus Lithuania, which took place in Turkey on 3 April 2013.

The Player and/or the National Federation of Turkey have seven days to appeal the decision to the EHF Court of Appeal.
