Champions meet in Győr

UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Münich were in Hungary on Monday 12 August for a pre-season friendly match against Győr’s footballers. Shortly before kick-off, the Bavarian players, who won every possible title last season, met with the current Women's EHF Champions League holders Györi Audi ETO KC.

The two teams won their national league and cup as well, as the biggest European club competition.

The teams met thanks to a common sponsor Audi and Győr's players were really excited before the event.

"It was superb feeling to meet with Thomas Müller and his team. I followed their performances last season and I'm happy to congratulate them personally for their successes,” said Anita Görbicz, team captain of Győr.

"It was a nice feeling for all of us to meet with Bayern Münich. It's a huge thing that we could take a photo together.

“It's an honour to be in the same photo with one of the best football teams in the world. They impressed me a lot with how they reached their successes.

“I have been especially waiting to meet Javi Martinez, as we are both from the same Spanish city, Ayegui,” added Györ coach Ambros Martín.

The girls also met Bayern coach Pep Guardiola and star players Schweinsteiger and Ribéry.  Guardiola congratulated to the girls and they also had photos taken together.

After the meet and greet, Bayern Münich went on to win their friendly match against Györ 4:1.
