Europe’s bright talents going for gold in Denmark

16 women’s teams from across Europe head towards south Denmark geared for 11 days of top handball action, with European handball’s top Younger Age Category title at stake.

The participants are divided into four Preliminary Round groups of four teams each which will begin on 1 August. The top two in each group will proceed to the Main Round and the other two teams will continue in the Intermediate Round.

Four teams will progress from the Main Round to the semi-finals and battle for the medals, with the final taking place on 11 August.

The hosts Denmark are also defending champions of the tournament, winning the 2011 title with a 29:27 victory over the Netherlands in the final.

Denmark’s current crop of the under-19 team have also got a winning pedigree, with many of the players part of the Youth World Championship winning squad in Montenegro last summer.
