EURO venue hosts EHF Executive meeting

Ahead of the draw for the Final Tournament of EHF EURO 2014, the EHF Executive met in Herning as guests of the Danish Handball Federation.

All 11 members of the Executive were present for the meeting, which was preceded by a workshop with the Danish Handball Federation in preparation for the organisation of the EHF EURO taking place in the country from 12 to 26 January 2014.

The meeting made decisions on a range of issues and followed up on recent events including the Meeting of Presidents in Cologne during the VELUX EHF FINAL4. 

Finances

The Executive confirmed the final auditors and Comptrollers reports for the past financial year, which together with the final reports for 2013, will be presented at the EHF Congress in Dublin, Ireland on 19/20 September 2014.

Competition matters

A number of club matters were agreed by the meeting ahead of the new season, including the awarding of wildcard places for the men’s and women’s EHF Champions League competitions and also confirmation of participants. 

Several motions, formulated by the EHF Competitions Commission, relating to national team administrative and legal procedures were also agreed.

The meeting confirmed a request that the half-time break during the EHF EURO 2014 Final Tournament would be set at 15 minutes.

Nations Board

It was agreed that Arsene Welter (LUX) would be co-opted to the Nations Board, representing the nations ranked 25-50, following the decision that Lucas O'Ceallachain would step down from the position.

Beach Handball

The venue for the 2014 edition of the YAC European Beach Handball Championship was decided.

The event was awarded to the Spanish Handball Federation and is set to take place from 11 to 13 July 20134 in the Spanish town of Lorca near Murcia.
