Information regarding the 2015 World Championship Qualification Europe

As the EHF EURO 2014 Qualification Phase 2 has come to an end, the situation for the Qualification Europe for the 2015 World Championship in Qatar is as follows.

37 European teams have registered to take part.

Of the 24 spots at the final tournament, 12 will go to European teams. A thirteenth European place is reserved for Spain who are directly qualified as the defending champions.

Apart from Spain as defending champions and Qatar as hosts, the three best ranked teams from the Men's EHF EURO 2014 will also qualify directly for Qatar 2015.

15 participating teams from the EHF EURO 2014 are already qualified for the Qualification Europe play-offs.

These 15 teams are: Austria, Belarus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hungary, Iceland, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Russia, Serbia and Sweden.

As the best three ranked teams from the EHF EURO 2014 qualify directly, twelve of these 15 will have a place secured at the play-offs.

All remaining and registered teams, which did not qualify for the EHF EURO 2014 in Denmark, have to qualify via a first qualification phase to reach the play-off matches.

Further information regarding the playing system and the draw procedure will be provided at the beginning of next week following the ExeC meeting on 21 June 2013 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The draw for the Men’s 2015 World Championship Qualification matches will be held in Vienna on 27 June 2013 on the fringes of the EHF Champions League qualification draw at approximately 14:30 hrs and together with the draw for the Men´s EURO 2014/2016 play-off matches.
