Live streaming of World Championship draw
The International Handball Federation has announced live streaming of the Women’s World Championship draw on Saturday, 15 June.
The draw in Belgrad will begin at 11:30 hrs (local time) and will be shown live at www.ihf.info.
24 nations are in the draw.
The pots and the procedure for the draw are based on the seeding lists of the 24 nations, their rankings at the respective continental qualifications and the results of the 2011 World Championship.
Host Serbia is seeded in pot 3 and can assign itself to a group of its choice.
Pots for the draw are as follows:
1: Norway (defending champion), Montenegro, Hungary, Denmark
2. Netherlands, Brazil, Germany, Poland
3: Angola, France, Serbia, Romania
4: Korea, Spain, Czech Republic, China
5: Tunisia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Japan, Argentina
6: Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Algeria, Australia
The draw procedure is the following:
Teams in pot 6 are drawn to groups A-D in row 6
Teams in pot 5 are drawn to groups A-D in row 5
Teams in pot 4 are drawn to groups A-D in row 4
Teams in pot 2 are drawn to groups A-D in row 2
Teams in pot 1 are drawn to groups A-D in row 1
Remaining teams in pot 3 are drawn to groups A-D in row 3
The World Championship will be played from 6 to 22 December 2013 in Nis, Novi Sad, Zrenjanin and Belgrade, where also the finals will take place.
The host cities of the four groups of the preliminary round will be announced by the IHF after the draw event.
The four best ranked teams each will qualify for the eighth-finals, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals and medals matches.
