VELUX EHF Champions League finalists sign former World Handball Player of the Year
Barcelona secure Karabatić signature
On the back of their VELUX EHF FINAL4 defeat to HSV Hamburg on 2 June, FC Barcelona Intersport have wasted no time in bolstering their squad to mount a challenge on next season’s title.
They have reached an agreement with Nikola Karabatić, who will join the club on a four year contract.
The France international has had a hugely successful career until now, winning EHF EURO, World Championship, Olympic and EHF Champions League titles as well as being named World Handball Player of the Year in 2007.
The 29-year-old will join the VELUX EHF Champions League finalists from French club Pays d'Aix, a team he joined in February from Montpellier.
Karabatić was twice Olympic champion, twice world champion and twice EHF EURO champion with the French national team.
At club level, he has won two EHF Champions League titles, one with Montpellier in 2003 and with THW Kiel in 2007, four German Bundesliga and six French league titles.
Karabatić will be presented on Wednesday at 10:30 hrs. at the Palau Blaugrana for the first time since reaching an agreement with Barcelona.
