40,000 euro for the fight against cancer
As in the previous year the fight against cancer has been the heart of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 charity activities.
For example, entry fees from the golf tournament, money that was raised in auctions and all proceeds from the prize were donated to the tournament's charity partner, German Cancer Aid.
In total 40,000 euro could be raised and a cheque was handed over to German Cancer Aid on Sunday.
"Sport has always had a social responsibility, and with the VELUX EHF FINAL4 as an outstanding sporting event, we are happy to welcome the opportunity to support the German cancer aid in their important work," said Peter Vargo, managing director of EHF Marketing.
“Our activities at a national level with HANDBALL HELPS! have proven to be continued success, and the cooperation with EHF Marketing GmbH for the VELUX EHF FINAL4 elevates our presence in handball at an international level," said Gerd Nettekoven, managing director of German Cancer Aid.
"As part of this huge handball festival, we meet many young people, with whom we can discuss the issue of cancer prevention. Of course, the proceeds from donations to the German cancer aid are very welcome. Each grant is an important contribution for improving the care of cancer patients and promotes continued research."
About the German cancer aid
The German cancer aid has been working for over 38 years for cancer patients. Each year more than 490,000 people in Germany, including 1,800 children and adolescents under 15 years old, are diagnosed with cancer. To help the victims and their families is the most important concern of the German cancer aid. Adhering to the motto "Help. Research. Inform." the organization promotes projects to improve the prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, medical care, and mental health care, including cancer support. The German cancer aid achieves all of this despite receiving no public funding.
