“It was a dream come true”

Just 100 words got Barbara Hanàk (24) and Marton Forgàcs to the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in Cologne. The two Hungarians, both of them frenetic supporters of MKB Veszprem, took part in the EHF’s “100 days, 100 words, 100 % handball” competition, for which they were asked to submit a story, no longer than 100 words, about their favourite VELUX EHF Champions League experience – an unexpected meeting with one their idols, Dejan Paric, who was a Veszprem goalkeeper from 2006 to 2011.

“We wrote the story together and we could not believe it when we were told that ours was the winning one,” Barbara said. “It was a dream come true.” For weeks the two engineering students were crossing fingers for Veszprem, hoping that the Hungarian squad would make it to the VELUX EHF FINAL4.

“Of course, we were at the quarter-finals when Veszprem played against Kiel. It was my birthday that day and Veszprem making it to Cologne would have been the best gift,” Barbara says. “But anyway, we are so happy we got the tickets. And now we will be cheering for Kielce, and I am sure that Veszprem will be here next year.” And if so, Barbara and Marton would definitely be in Cologne as well.
