Procedure for Women's 19 EHF EURO 2013 final tournament draw released

The European Handball Federation has released the procedures for the Women's 19 EHF EURO 2013 final tournament draw.

The draw will take place at the Congress Centrum Kölnmesse in Cologne, Germany, on 2 June 2013 at 12:00 hrs local time.

31 teams had entered and after all qualification tournaments have been played, the 13 squads have been confirmed which will join Denmark, Norway and Russia, the three teams that were already qualified.

The following teams have qualified through qualification tournaments: Hungary, France, Sweden, Romania, Netherlands, Spain, Slovakia, Croatia, Germany, Czech Republic, Portugal, Austria and Slovenia.

Based on the ranking of the 2011 Women's 17 European Championship and the results in the qualification groups, the participating teams are seeded as follows

  • Pot 1 with Russia, Denmark, Norway, Hungary
  • Pot 2 with France, Sweden, Romania, Netherlands
  • Pot 3 with Spain, Slovakia, Croatia, Germany
  • Pot 4 with Czech Republic, Portugal, Austria, Slovenia

At the draw the teams of pot 4 are drawn to row 4; then the teams of pot 3 are drawn to row 3; then the teams of pot 2 are drawn to row 2; then the teams of pot 1 are drawn to row 1 (see table below)

Denmark as the organisers have the right to choose their group after rows 4, 3 and 2 have been determined.
