Men's EHF EURO 2014 Final Tournament draw at Finals venue

The final draw for the 2014 Men’s EHF European Championship in Denmark will take place on 21 June 2013 at the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, Denmark, at 18.30 hrs. ahead of a match between EHF EURO 2014 hosts, Denmark, and Poland.

Jyske Bank Boxen, the 14,000-spectator arena, is the biggest indoor venue in Denmark and will also host preliminary round and main round matches as well as the entire final round during the Men’s EHF EURO 2014, the European Handball Federation’s flagship national team event.

“We are always excited to play in Herning which is the ultimate heartland of Danish handball,” says Ulrik Wilbek, head coach of the Danish men’s national team.

“The decision to arrange the EHF EURO 2014 draw here is the right one and I am sure that event will attract large numbers of the vast handball crowds you always find in this part of our country.

“And they will be just as excited as we are in the Danish team with regards to what the groups are going to look like.”

The Men’s EHF EURO 2014 will take place from 12 to 26 January 2014, with venues including Copenhagen, Aalborg, Aarhus and Herning.

Draw procedure

There will be a live stream available on the event's official website, www.ehf-euro.com.

The 16 participating teams, including hosts, Denmark, are seeded in four pots according to their results in the qualification groups and the ranking of the EHF EURO 2012.

Denmark will be seeded in pot 1 and as they are already confirmed as the team heading Group A, they will play their preliminary round matches in the 14,000-capacity arena, Jyske Bank Boxen, in Herning.

Pot 1 will be completed by another three teams that rank first in the EHF EURO 2014 qualification groups. The remaining four group winners of the qualification groups will be seeded in pot 2.

The seven second ranked teams from the qualification and the best third ranked team make up pots 3 and 4.
