Three match suspension for Initia Hasselt's Sander Brouwers for improper conduct towards EHF referees
 

EHF Court of Handball decision released

The EHF Court of Handball has reached a decision in the case concerning the player Sander Brouwers from the Belgian club CS Initia Hasselt.

After the 2012/13 EHF Challenge Cup Quarter-final (2nd Leg): Handball Esch (LUX) vs Initia Hasselt (BEL), which took place in Elsch/Alzette, Luxembourg on 23 March, 2013, the player of Initia Hasselt, Sander Brouwers, went to the Officials' table and used swear words and an improper gesture towards the referees. The referees gave him a red card and reported the incident.

The EHF Court of Handball found that the behaviour of the player met the characteristic of an improper conduct towards EHF referees deserving further sanction.

A three match suspension is therefore imposed on the player, on the basis of article B.3 of the EHF List of Penalties.

An appeal to the EHF Court of Appeal may be lodged by the player and / or his club within seven days.
